This Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour combines history, culture, and unforgettable Sahara experiences.
We start in the morning from Marrakech and drive through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass. The road is full of beautiful views of mountains, valleys, and Berber villages. Our first big stop is the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO site and one of the most famous places in Morocco. After visiting the kasbah, we continue to Ouarzazate, called the Hollywood of Africa because many movies were filmed here. Later, we follow the road of a thousand kasbahs, crossing Skoura oasis and the Rose Valley, before reaching Dades Valley where you will have dinner and spend the night in a hotel or riad.
After breakfast, we drive to the amazing Todra Gorge, a canyon with very high cliffs that is perfect for walking and taking pictures. From there, we continue through palm groves and small villages until we reach Erfoud, a town famous for fossils. In the afternoon we arrive in Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara. Here you will start your camel trekking experience across the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. The ride takes you to the desert camp, where you will enjoy the sunset, have a traditional dinner, and listen to Berber music by the fire. You will sleep in a tent under the starry sky – a magical Sahara night.
Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes, then ride camels back to the village. After breakfast and a shower, we start our journey to Rissani, the old capital of Tafilalet and home to a lively traditional market. We continue through Alnif and N’Kob, passing beautiful desert landscapes and small Berber villages. Later we drive through the Draa Valley, the longest valley in Morocco, full of palm groves and kasbahs. We arrive in Ouarzazate, where you will have dinner and spend the night in a hotel or riad.
After breakfast, we visit Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate before starting the road back to Marrakech. We drive again through the High Atlas Mountains, enjoying the beautiful views, before arriving in Marrakech in the afternoon. This ends your 4 days 3 night from marrakech to merzouga.
